It is our mission to share our knowledge to educate people about Lepidoptera and their habitats. To instill and foster a passion for nature in others. To establish and preserve the environment for butterflies, skippers, and moths.
Grant Application
SEMBA awards grants ranging from $100 to $400 in order to help establish or expand a community butterfly garden!
Grant Rules

Garden or project must be at a school or community site.

Grant must be used within awarded year.

Grant must be used to install or expand a butterfly garden.

Plants must be host or nectar plants for butterflies and should be native species to Michigan.

If requesting garden elements (rocks/sand, containers, etc.) a line-item budget and a reason for the requested item must be provided with the application.

SEMBA Native Butterfly Garden sign will be provided and must be posted in a visible spot in the garden.

SEMBA board members not eligible to apply.

Pictures of the completed garden must be emailed to SEMBA (sembabutterfly@yahoo.com) and consent given to post on our website.
